This years National took place almost at home in Degeberga, just one hour away from us. A beautiful show ground with great surroundings and all Basenji enthusiasts could live in the same area. In the evenings we all gathered for a joint barbecue and most stayed up until the wee hours, party noices was heard all over the area. Nothing beats a party with good friends and we (almost) had Summer warmth so there was nothing really to complain about.

Our results gave us both ups and downs, mostly ups though. Verro got a very good in quality, he who has never been without an excellent, but it's been said that also stars have bad days. Mojo placed 3'rd in the open class and we are almost happy about that as he has only been shown once before and then he recieved the CC. It's hard to explain to newcomers why the judges do so very different. I'm trying to make up a good excuse for these placings, but I'm pretty bad at that so why bother...

The better results came with the older dogs. Kevin was 3'rd in a huge champion class. He hasn't been shown since June 2008 and to be honest, maybe he should have as he would stand up pretty good amongst todays top winners. Kevin isn't that impressed by the showring and his my boyfriend thinks it's nonsense so most of the times Kevin stayes at home with Håkan when the other dogs tags along. But just wait until he's a veteran, then the boys won't have a say anymore!

And the on to the Worlds Best Jaffa!!! The oldest dog at the show and even if we have started to really notice her old age (Jaffa is soon turning 13) she is not being lazy at all in the showring. She loves it and it's always full speed ahead and the judge made us do a few extra laps in the ring as she seemed to really enjoy her day. She absolutely does and was awarded an excellent despite her old age.

It's always extra sweet to meet our young boys Verro and Mojo again. Yes, they did stay with us for longer than expected as pups, but the joy they show when meeting me, Håkan, mum Kenya, grandmum Jaffa and uncle Kevin must be a proof that we where really, really nice to them :-). Lots of tummy scratches was handed out

So it's over for this time and after all hard work arranging the show we now put our feet up and await our real vacation. Next year we'll meet in Tånga Hed and then it's part time again. Well, you didn't think that none but Verro touched the salad bowl...
